Is this a substitute for hiring an attorney?
No. Entrust-Docs provides attorney-drafted documents, not legal advice. If your situation is complex or unusual — blended families, existing estate plans, special circumstances — you should consult a licensed attorney in your state. For the common, straightforward situation of a parent who wants to remain available to help their adult child, our documents are designed to work.
Does my young adult lose their independence?
Not at all. Your young adult chooses who can help, what authority to provide, and when that authority applies. They remain in full control. These documents create permission to help — they do not transfer control. Your child can revoke them at any time.
Which states do you currently serve?
Entrust-Docs currently serves Texas only. What matters is where your young adult permanently, legally resides — their family home address, not their campus address. A Texas family whose student attends school in another state is still a Texas family for these purposes. We are expanding. If your young adult’s permanent residence is outside Texas, join our list and we’ll tell you when we reach your state.
What is included in the notarization?
Online notarization is completed through DocuSign Notary On-Demand. You and your young adult connect with a licensed notary via video — no appointment, no office visit, no travel required. This is included in the package price.
How long does the whole process take?
Most families complete the questionnaire and document review in about 15 minutes. The notarization session typically takes another 15–20 minutes. You can complete everything in a single evening.
What happens after I purchase?
You’ll receive access to the guided questionnaire immediately. Once completed, your documents are generated and ready for review. You’ll then schedule your notarization session through DocuSign. Your completed, notarized documents are delivered digitally.
